Downtown has the highest bather load per cubic metre in all of Tulum. A hostel with a 15 m³ pool can have 20 people in it on a Saturday, and that means sunscreen, sweat and lotion entering the water at a rate no residential pool ever sees.
Downtown's critical issue is sanitary, not cosmetic. With that user load, if free chlorine falls below 1 ppm the real risk is transmission between guests. Here we always measure free and combined chlorine, not just total, because the gap between the two is what warns you before the problem shows.

A log of chlorine and pH readings with dates, the product data sheet for the chemicals used, and the circulation equipment working with a legible gauge. We deliver the signed log at every visit, which is what they usually ask for.
