The small pools in Región 10 have a scale problem: in a 10 m³ basin, a dosing error that would be negligible in a large pool spikes the chlorine to irritating levels. It's the area where we see the most red eyes and over-chlorinated water, not the opposite.
Over-chlorination is the silent problem here. The owner wants to do things right, adds extra product as a precaution, and the result is water that irritates, bleaches swimsuits and corrodes the steel on the ladders. At small volumes, dosing gets measured, not eyeballed.

Contrary to what almost everyone believes, it's normally the opposite: it stings because it has too little free chlorine and too much chloramine, which is spent chlorine bound to organic matter. That's the strong pool smell. It's corrected with a shock that breaks the chloramines down, not by lowering the chlorine.
For a basin of 8 to 15 m³ weekly maintenance starts at $1,500 MXN a month with chemicals included. In pools this size what matters isn't the price of the chemicals, it's dosing precision: a slip shows up far faster than in a large pool.
In the Caribbean climate a weekly visit is the right cadence. The heat burns off chlorine and the jungle dirties the water fast; without weekly maintenance a pool turns green in a matter of days.
