Weekly pool maintenance — Tankah

Beachfront villas, vacation rental houses and small hotels beside the cove. $1,500 MXN/month.

Tankah bay, with an open cenote, a nearby reef and scattered villa development between the federal highway and the sea.

The water in Tankah

Tankah sits on a freshwater upwelling that mixes with the sea in the cove, and the humidity and ambient salt are constant. Pools here accumulate salt on the surface from marine aerosol, which shifts the water's conductivity and fools poorly calibrated salt chlorination equipment.

What fails here, and why

Many Tankah villas have a salt chlorinator because the owner asked for one thinking it meant less maintenance. In a marine environment those units drift out of calibration and the cell scales up twice as fast. Without cell cleaning every 3 months the system stops producing chlorine and nobody notices until the water is green.

Frequently asked questions

Questions from our clients in Tankah.

I have a salt chlorinator in my Tankah villa and the water turned green — is it broken?

It's almost always a scaled cell, not a broken unit. On the coast, hard water and ambient salt scale the cell far faster than inland. It's removed, cleaned with an acid solution and recalibrated. We recommend checking it every 3 months in this area, not every 6.

How often do you come up to Tankah?

We run a fixed beach-corridor route covering Tankah, Soliman, Chemuyil and Akumal on the same day. That lets us provide weekly service with no distance surcharge. If your property is rented, we coordinate the visit with your check-out calendar.

What does weekly maintenance include?

Surface and floor cleaning, wall brushing, emptying baskets and skimmer, full chemical balance (chlorine, pH, alkalinity), pump and filter check, and a photo report.
